Centre invites Tamil Nadu and Kerala for talks


The Centre has invited Tamil Nadu and Kerala for talks on the Mullaperiyar dam issue on December 16. The date was re-set after the Tamil Nadu government sought postponement of the informal talks that were slated for Monday. This will be the first official meeting between the two sides on the issue in six years.

32 passengers of a private bus were injured when the bus plunged into the canal in PUDUCHERRY






























Puducherry : As many as 32 passengers of a private bus were injured when the bus plunged into the canal of river Sankarabharani at Pillayarkuppam near here today.

According to police, the private bus was coming to Puducherry from Suthukkeni and when it reached Pillayarkuppam, the driver lost control and the bus overturned and plunged into the canal.

Neighbours broke open the windscreen of the bus and helped the passengers out, preventing anyone drowning. The bus was pulled out using a crane.

All the injured were admitted to a private medical college here.

Chief Minister N Rangasamy, Deputy Speaker Selvam, Legislators Theni Jayakumar, Karthikeyan and Vaidyanathan visited the injured and consoled them.
